Assistive Bank of Loan Equipment (ABLE)
What is ABLE?
ABLE offers people with disabilities and their assisting service providers the opportunity to try out an assistive device prior to purchase.
Procedures
If you would like to try out or evaluate an assistive
technology (AT) device before purchasing it, NMTAP can help. The loans are for 30–60 days.
This is all you have to do:
Step 1
View our ABLE Loan Program inventory for the equipment you are interested in trying out. If an item is not on the inventory we may still be able to obtain it; contact us for assistance.

Step 2
Complete and return the ABLE Loan Application Form and the Borrower's Rules and Obligations Agreement.

Step 3
A Loan Agreement Form between ABLE and the parties requesting the equipment will be completed by our office. The loan agreement will be included with the equipment and must be signed and returned to our office upon receipt of the equipment.
Loans of equipment made from the ABLE Device Loan Program are made on a first come, first serve basis.
If the item is available it will be shipped out to you or you may pick it up at our office located at the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, 435 St Michael’s Drive, Bldg. D., Santa Fe, New Mexico 87505. The equipment is shipped via UPS; please provide a street address where the equipment will be shipped.

The Assistive Bank of Loan Equipment (ABLE) is operated by the New Mexico Technology Assistance Program (NMTAP). NMTAP is a program of the Public Education Department, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR).
ABLE serves school districts, local education agencies such as Regional Educational Centers, and rehabilitation and private organizations throughout New Mexico. These agencies and organizations must have cooperative agreements with NMTAP in order to participate in ABLE's assistive device loan program.
